It's a secret...ssh!

I am so excited about something coming up, but I can't say anything about it yet....
I am horrible about keeping secrets, especially my own. But I have to stay quiet about this or the consequences could be
DIRE!!

Okay, not really, but I'm still not telling!

On another note, we STILL have not started the girlscout meetings and the anticipation is KILLING ME!

Brownies & Milk

I am the proud leader of
 Girl Scout Brownie Troop #30344!
I can't wait to get started!!

Last night I attended a social at my church last night. It was themed around different Hispanic cultures. It was a lot of fun and there was plenty of good food and good music.

I made my 1st "tres leche" cake. Tres leches means "three milks" in espanol. I say my 1st because I plan on making one again. It was pretty good!

On that note, I bought Rosetta Stone is Latin American Spanish! I haven't had a chance to start learning yet because my computer decided that it doesn't want to cooperate with me anymore. :(

Maybe I should invest in a laptop....

Happy Labor Day

The first Labor Day was observed in New York City on September 5, 1882.

President Grover Cleveland made Labor Day an official holiday in 1894.

Happy Labor Day to the 149,100,000 people in the labor force!

And a special "shout out" to the 69, 100, 000 women in the labor force! :)

My Headache

I've had a headache since Thursday night and I just can't take it anymore! I don't know what else to do, I have already resorted to drugs. Yes, I said drugs. I started off just popping pills.

Little did I know that pills were a gateway drug. Now I'm doing powder.

My family and friends think that I should go to rehab before my life spirals out of control. I'm not going.

Okay, I'm kidding, but seriously...

"HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS GOSH FORSAKEN HEADACHE?!?!?!?!?!"

el fin.

What a Busy Day!

Yesterday was very busy for me. My day started at 6:30 a.m. and I did not get back home until 10 p.m. last night. I am a receptionist/secretary/do-girl and I love it! Its fairly easy and my coworkers work together as a team and we all get along.
Yesterday, I got the chance to attend an Administrative Assistant's Seminar.

I learned a lot of cool tips about becoming more organized, dealing with difficult people, and how to argue. I also learned that I am a minimizer married to a maximizer...  meaning are arguing styles are completely different. What I like best about the seminar is that most of the things I learned can be done at work and at home. I'm gonna share my two favorite lessons.

JUST EAT THE FROG.... OR IT WILL EAT YOU!

If you had 24 hours to eat a live frog, its best to just do it right away or you will spend 24 hours dreading having to do it. Personally if I went to work and I was told to eat a live frog, I would just put in my resignation.... but I get the point.

YOU CAN NOT CRY AND SWALLOW WATER AT THE SAME TIME!

Water can also calm you down if you feel like you're about to EXPLODE!!
This is the best thing I ever heard! I have this "thing" about crying in front of people... even though I'm a big water bucket. Don't be surprised if you see me with a bottle of water at church or anywhere else where I'm bound to get emotional.

Yesterday, I also met with Nigel Mott. He helped put together the Creative Reading tutoring program that I was a part of last year.
This year I'm gonna be a part of From Girls 2 Women.

I will go to an elementary school twice a week and tutor a group of girls in Math and Language Arts. I'm super excited! I always wanted to be a tutor/mentor but I couldn't find the right group of people to get involved with. Brunswick has groups like "Southern Classy Ladies" and "Down South Divas" but honestly I never hear about anything they do for the youth. All I ever hear about is parties and clubs... not a good look. Ok, I take that back, I have heard of a couple things they have done... but nothing good.

I'M OFFICIALLY A GIRL SCOUT TROOP LEADER!

Ok, not yet. But I will be on September 9th! I'm super duper excited about this!! Me and my bestie Bernae will head a Daisy and/or a Brownie troop at Altama Elementary. I just hope I can learn the Girl Scout Promise before then!

Vandy's Candy Vs. Richly Charming

VS.

As I was sitting in the bathtub I decided that "Vandy's Candy" sounded waaay better than "Richly Charming." I'm not even sure if "richly" is a word. It was just a play on my name: Charm from Charmaine and Rich from Richardson...
yeah,
Vandy's Candy sounds better and is better fitting. :)

I promise this page will look better before Monday.

GED

Some days I go to work and I absolutely LOVE my job... and other days I wonder if its even worth it. Don't get me wrong, the job is somewhat rewarding and the hours are awesome but some days the students are just too much. Sometimes they are funny but one thing I don't do is question why they are attending Adult Education classes instead of enjoying the perks of high school. Its evident. Within 48 hours two teens fought over cigarette smoke, a girl was caught in the restroom with a guy, and a six foot three teenage boy allegedly threatened a five foot four girl with a knife. Needless to say parents and police got involved and once again the GED school located less than a block from the projects looked like a crime scene. Woosaaaa!

Why Did I Get Married Too?

I really wanted to post this earlier but since I was at work "working" I didn't want to spend too much time "blogging." Anyway... this is what I learned from last night's movie.

This is Terry (Tyler Perry) and Diane (Sharon Leal). I didn't per say "learn" anything from them, but me and my husband did go thru something similar just recently to what they did in the movie. All of a sudden Diane is "glowing" and happy. She started dressing sexier and accidently called her husband Phillip...

Although I would never ever cheat on my husband I did have a few innocent (my husband would beg to differ) convos with an old friend. I thought it was silly (and cute) that he got so jealous about it, but seeing it from another perspective I realized just how wrong I really was.
*********************

This is Marcus (Micheal Jai White) and Angela (Tasha Smith). I thought they were hilarious... plus Marcus is just so damn good looking! I am in love with his gap! (I love gaps... I think they give smiles personality.) Anyway, although I am not as jealous as Angela, I do go a little overboard with the private eye stuff. Granted I had reasons in the past to do so but no one can hide dirt under a rug forever... it will show itself sooner or later. Did I mention that Marcus is FINE?!? The fact that Marcus is so involved in football reminded me a lot of my husband... and he is fine.
******************

This is Troy (Lamman Rucker) and Sheila (Jill Scott). If I named all of the ways this couple reminded me of my husband and me we would be here all day. To make it simple I am like Sheila because I need to be held and know that I am loved... physically and verbally. Cornelious is like Troy because he is a proud man that has to be the provider no matter what it takes. SN: This man is sexy too!
********************

I learned my most important lesson from Patricia (Janet Jackson) and Gavin (Malik Yoba). If you don't take anything at all from this movie just remember you can't ever take back what you say and never go to bed angry. Also, you should sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around someone else's.
******************

ONE LAST THING...

I noticed that Patricia and Angela acted a fool at their husbands' jobs. I did that before... twice. Not a good look Meezy! I'm sorry my sweet husband. I love you and will never (fingers crossed) do that again! ;)

Layouts

I think my blog is looking more like a myspace layout... ugh.

SN: I'm so excited about this blog thing that I will probably add about 4 more before the night is over.

Why Did I Get Married?

I finally watched Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too?" last night and I must say that I am pleased. I had given up on Tyler Perry because all of his movies were starting to run together. It was the same story everytime.... a woman down on her luck meets the man of her dreams, whom at first she can't stand, but in the end she marries him and lives happily ever after. This movie doesn't exactly end that way because for one, everyone is already married, and it actually has a surprise ending, which is sad, but I found it refreshing. The best part of all is that my husband actually stayed awake to watch the end of the movie with me. That's a big deal! Anyway, I related to a lot of the characters and seen a little of myself, my husband, and our relationship throughout the movie. In the end, I think I learned something. :)
